Cisco IOS XRv version 4.3.2

Cisco IOS-XRvの.ovaファイルおよび.vmdkファイルの最新版確認の為に下記リンク先のCisco File Exchangeにてダウンロードが出来る。
最新版だけでなく、全てではないものの過去にリリースされたバージョンも公開されていた。(※1)


File Exchangeには稀に変なファイルアップされているので、月に2〜3度は見に行っている。
先日、File Exchangeにアクセスしたところxrvr-fullk9-4.3.2.ova がアップロードされている事に気がついた。
バージョン4.3.2と言えば一番最初にリリースされたCisco IOS-XRvのイメージファイル。
VRRに特化したソフトウェアルータという事になっているが、OSPFやEIGRPなどルーティングプロトコルの一通りな設定は可能。
しかもデモ版ではない為、バックプレーンの帯域制限は設定されていない。
早速VMware Playerにデプロイしてみた。


過去に1度、どのバージョンがお勧めかと聞かれた事があった。
Bug Fix、バージョン間での動作の軽快さの差異があまり感じられない事、要求されるPCのスペックにおいて最新バージョン(6.0.0や5.3.3)と初期のバージョン(4.3.2や5.1.1)との間で差異が無い事などを考慮すると、最新バージョンで良いと思う。


試しにバージョン4.3.2をESXiに突っ込んでみた。
configは5.3.3のものをそのまま流用したが、commitで弾かれる事無くすんなり入った。
以下は、show versionの出力内容。

※1　2019年1月中にアクセスしたところ、何もアップロードされていなかった。
当記事で扱っているIOS-XRvのカーネルはQNX Neutrinoベースで32bitモノであるが、既に開発終了状態。
今リリースされているIOS-XRv 6.xはWindriver Linuxベースの64bitなカーネルになっている。
しかしコマンド自体は変更部分が少ない為にコマンド練習台としてはまだ使えるだろう。
